Sheila was appointed to the Board of Fire Commissioners in 2006 when the Board expanded from three to five members. She was elected in 2009 to fill a six year term beginning in January of 2010. Sheila has lived on the Key Peninsula for 25 years, recently moving from the Vaughn area to Longbranch. Sheila served as a volunteer member of the Key Peninsula Fire Department before going back to school to earn a Master’s degree in Nursing. Sheila currently works within a large hospital system in a liaison role with physicians. As a Commissioner, she brings leadership experience to the table in working with budgets, personnel management and contract negotiations. Sheila enjoys Eventing (competing with her horses), traveling and volunteering as a nurse on humanitarian missions to Peru. Sheila also works as a part-time nursing instructor at Tacoma Community College with the hope of influencing the future and delivery of medical care.

Sheila’s goal as a Fire Commissioner is to encourage participation by the Key Peninsula citizens and department members in evaluating systems and the budget to streamline delivery of emergency services.
